Executive Chef Sally Yu leads an eclectic and fast-paced career in the hospitality restaurant industry. Chef Sally’s dream to become a doctor took another turn as she was born into the restaurant industry — her father is Chef Ho Fat Yu. At the young age of 21, Sally dared to open a restaurant of her own. However, after experiencing the unexpected nightmare of rent agreements, the chef chose another fork in the road. She was actively involved a series of small business, expanding her business savvy and grooming her for what was to come next. These businesses ranged from consulting and global importing to television.

Chef Sally’s passion for food and travel were globally enhanced as she next toured with the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil’s Totem as Head Chef for three years. Now Sally is back in her home town as our Executive Chef. She will play an integral part in the shaping of our restaurant.

When Chef Sally is not working, you will find her enjoying her spare time searching for vintage cookbooks, enjoying wine and music, combing through local farmer’s markets, and cooking and eating with her family and friends.

“I feel we chefs have a responsibility to not only help feed, but to provide education. One of the reasons why I love food so much is because of the impact culture and people make on their food. Food is defined as universal love in my eyes, and I am lucky to be able to create love as I see it for others to experience and enjoy.”

The Legend of Jasper O’Farrell

jaspers_o_farrellJasper’s Corner Tap & Kitchen is home and namesake to Jasper O’Farrell, the man who named and built such streets of San Francisco as Market, Lombard, Pine and O’Farrell. For all intents, he largely constructed the city as we currently know it today.

Jasper was an Irish immigrant with a grand view of what this City by the Bay could be. A social man, he wanted to create a wondrous promenade that would bring the city together around trade, commerce, meals, and most importantly, drink! It is in the spirit of this remarkable innovator that we named Jasper’s, with the inspiration of creating something worth bringing the streets of San Francisco together over once again. Join us this St. Patrick’s Day in raising a glass to this amazing city and one of the brave Irish pioneers who helped sculpt it!
